In a horrifying tale coming from the distant shores of the New World, a Portuguese man has reportedly endured a brutal mauling from the indigenous warrior while exploring the newly found coast.

According to eyewitnesses, the crew of the Discovery ship initially encountered a group of Indigenous people, whom they described as agile, muscular, dark-skinned, and tall. While attempts were made to engage peacefully through gestures and gifts of glass beads and iron tools, tensions quickly escalated when one of the natives allegedly perceived a threat from the Portuguese side.
"It happened in an instant," said Mateus de Lemos, ship carpenter. "The native warrior moved forward with incredible speed, wielding a long, sharpened spear. Rodrigo (Portuguese Explorer) tried to retreat, but he was struck down with brutal force before any of us could intervene."

The act was deemed as an "act of aggression" by the Portuguese authorities who reportedly took action to combat any type of accidents that may occur during interactions with natives.
This event has deeply affected other sailors who were going on discovery missions on other newfoundlans, and they reportedly started to arm themselves heavily making an even worse profile against warriors.
